This article explains how AdBlock360 updates work, how to check which version you have, and what to do if an update causes problems.
Automatic Updates
AdBlock360 includes an automatic update feature. When a new version is available, the app downloads and installs it in the background — you typically don't need to do anything.
The Auto Update toggle is under Settings → Advanced:
Automatic updates keep your app and filter lists current, which is important for blocking the latest ad formats. If you turn Auto Update off, the app asks you to confirm with an "Are you sure you want to disable automatic updates?" dialog — click Disable to confirm or Cancel to keep automatic updates on. With auto-updates off, you're responsible for installing updates manually, so we recommend leaving it on for the best protection.
Checking Your Current Version
To find out which version of AdBlock360 you have installed:
- Click the AdBlock360 icon in the Windows system tray.
- Open Settings.
- Go to About.
- Your current version number is displayed here (e.g., "4.2.1.0222").
Alternatively, you can find the version in Windows Settings → Apps → search for AdBlock360.
Updating Manually
If automatic updates are disabled, or if you want to install the latest version immediately:
- Go to adblock360.com and download the latest installer.
- Run the installer while AdBlock360 is still installed — the installer will update the existing installation in place.
- Follow the on-screen instructions (accept any prompts).
- Once the installer finishes, AdBlock360 will restart with the new version.
You do not need to uninstall the old version first. The installer handles the upgrade automatically.
Filter List Updates
In addition to app updates, AdBlock360 keeps its filter lists — the rules that determine which ads to block — current. These update automatically in the background; there is no manual "Update" button and nothing for you to do. If you maintain your own custom filters, see Managing Custom Filters.
What to Do If Problems Occur After an Update
If AdBlock360 behaves unexpectedly after an update (e.g., ads appear that were previously blocked, the app crashes, or settings changed):
Ads appearing after an update
- Check that AdBlocking is still enabled (see Getting Started).
- Give the app a moment — filter lists refresh automatically in the background.
- If you use the Chrome Browser Assistant, check that it's still connected — it may need to reconnect after a major app update.
App crashes or won't start after an update
- Restart your PC and try again.
- If the problem persists, try a clean reinstall: uninstall AdBlock360 via Windows Settings → Apps, restart, then download and install the latest version from adblock360.com.
- If the issue continues, contact support and include your log files. See Troubleshooting: App Won't Start for instructions on finding log files.
Rolling back to a previous version
If a specific update is causing a critical issue, contact our support team and explain the situation. They can advise on whether a previous version is available and how to install it.
